Agim Shehu-‘Amerika ne Syte e Mi’ Book Promotion – July 16, 2007
Promotion of the Book “Amerika ne Syte e Mi” (America in My Eyes) by Writer Agim Shehu | July 16 2007. This event was organized at the community room of the Vataj property. Agim Shehu resides in Geneva, Switzerland and is well known in the Albanian community for his prolific creativity and numerous literary works. Food and entertainment was provided for by AAWO and our board member Agathia Luka.

INTERNATIONAL IMMIGRANTS DAY PARADE – June 24, 2007
500 Albanian Community members participated in the International Cultures Parade, organized by International Immigrant Fund. AAWO served as the Albanian group facilitator making this year’s representations a great success.

ALBANIAN HERITAGE DAY – June 10, 2007
In collaboration with the Mother Tereza Center and Our Lady of Shkodra Church in Valhalla, Westchester County, NY AAWO celebrated the Albanian Heritage Day aiming to keep the tradition alive. Albanian singers, dancers and comedians performed for hundreds of participants.

MOTHER’S DAY ANNUAL GALA – May 12, 2007
Most Sucessful Fundraising & Marketing Event for AAWO Mother’s Day was celebrated at Astoria World Manor, Queens, by 250 members and a slew of Albanian artists from the community. Linda Foundos from New York, NY was awarded the annual “Mother of the Year” award and Jane Christos from Boston, MA was presented with “Woman of the Year” award. For the first time, AAWO presented three Future Promise Awards to post-graduate students – thus, welcoming a new generation of young ambitious women who we hope will inspire other generations to come. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – March 8, 2007
Over 200 women from the Albanian community in the NY-NJCT tri-state area were gathered and celebrated 7th and 8th of March at the Bronx House. Albanian women make up for a proud and exemplary group, embracing the new and more proactive role of the international woman today.

‘My Love’ Book Promotion – February 11, 2007
Ceremony for Albana Melyshi-Lifshin A literary evening to promote the recent publication of Ms. Lifshin’s book in the US, as told through the eyes of two generation of political exile from the communist regime in Albania and the values of freedom and democracy the author found in the US. Ms. Lifshin is a well renowned author and radio broadcaster whose work has a wide resonance amoung the Albanian-American community in the United States. THE JEWISH MEMOIR OF ALBANIA – January 17, 2007
AAWO together with ADL and the Hidden Child Organization honored Albanian individuals and families who saved and helped Jews during the World War II. In particular. A community ceremony was organized for Bicaku family who saved the lives of 26 Jewish people during the war. Political and congressional leaders in the NY area attended, including the Albanian Embassador to the UN and other prominent organizations’ representatives such as the Vice-Chairman of National Albanian American Council, Martin Shkreli.

‘Shpresa’ Hope Magazine – January 1, 2007
Publication “Shpresa” Hope Magazine. Publications serve as communication tools to report back to AAWO audiences on all activities and operations – and include invaluable informative segments, inspiring stories and achievents. In our publications we have promoted the AAWO programs and given visibility to some of the dometic violence victims and their children to write about their lives. We highlighted the contributions of the women to our organization.
